DCCC Independent Expenditure
Over the past three cycles, we’ve helped the DCCC win 8 targeted races. Here are a few:
Despite anti-Democratic waves across much of the Midwest the past two cycles, we helped Congressman Rick Nolan overcome multi-millionaire Stewart Mills III twice in a row. Mills outspent Nolan dramatically both cycles, leveraging massive personal wealth into months-long ad campaigns meant to brand Mills as a populist Minnesotan. However, in the course of just a few ads each cycle for the DCCC IE, we changed the narrative -- driving up Mills’ unfavorable ratings and helping Nolan survive two scares. Roll Call called Three Point’s 2014 ads “some of the best of the cycle” and the Washington Post declared our ad campaign as “pitch perfect.”
In what the Hill called “one of the nation’s closest - and most expensive - House races” of 2012, we created a series of ads to help Democrat Scott Peters unseat popular incumbent Brian Bilbray.
With Congresswoman Cheri Bustos facing a tough rematch in her first re-election campaign, we created hard-hitting ads to make sure voters knew Republican Bobby Shilling was part of the problem in Washington, not the outsider he claimed to be.
“On paper, there was no way Republicans could lose this seat,” wrote one local newspaper. But with a series of ads targeting the GOP nominee, we helped Rep. John Barrow pull off what the Washington Post called one of “the biggest surprises of the 2012 election.”
